As the weather improves and we get closer to Spring, we get eager to recover from our “cabin fever” and head outdoors for some fresh air and sunshine. Renae Reidy, the KSU Extension Agent for Family & Consumer Sciences is ready to share information about a great outside activity—Walk Kansas. As the March Special Feature Speaker, Renae will share how we can get involved in the 3rd Annual Walk Kansas event. This team -based program is sponsored by K-State and designed to help us, our family and friends lead healthier lives. Ms. Reidy will explain the flexibility of this activity encouraging us to walk away and exercise away our stress at a level appropriate for many different ages and stages of life. This is Renae’s 3rd year as an extension agent with KSU. She is a lifelong resident of Dickinson County, attended KSU and began working at the Extension Office in Abilene in April of 2017. Renae previously worked in the field of early childhood education.
Donna Christensen from Superior, Nebraska is the Speaker for March. Donna is a free’-lance writer, mother of 5 children and 4 step-children. As we grow up, many of us enjoy listening to, reading, and watching movies of fairy tales. Sometimes they become part of our secret hopes and dreams for our lives. The title of her talk is “Do Fairy Tales Really Come True?.”
The Gathering Music will be played by pianist, Jeaneen Taplin from Abilene, KS. Special Music will be provided by a vocal and instrumental trio from Abilene: Tom Bishop, Rachel Heidorn and Kaitlin Kendall.
The cost for this event is $5. Make reservations or cancellations for this meeting by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or calling Carolyn Hoover at (785) 263-4285 by Saturday, February 24th.
