Have you been feeding and watching a colorful array of birds in your yard this winter? The Special Feature Speaker for the month of February is Chuck Otte, the Geary County Extension Agent. Chuck grew up on a family farm in northwestern Nebraska. He received his bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in Agronomy at the University of Nebraska. He has been an avid bird watcher and naturalist since his boyhood days. Currently, Chuck is the secretary of the Kansas Ornithological Society (KOS). He has served as editor for the KOS quarterly newsletter, “The Horned Lark” and is a past president of that organization. At present, he also serves as Secretary of the Kansas Bird Records Committee. Everyone will want to be present for his most interesting and informative talk on “Wintertime Backyard Bird Feeding.” Chuck’s education and experiences make him well qualified to enlighten us about our feathered friends.
