Abilene Christian Women Coffee
A celebration day is on the way for the Abilene Christian Women at their monthly Coffee on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 9:30 – 11:15 a.m. at the Elks Club, 417 NW 4th St! All ladies are invited to participate in the “80th Anniversary Celebration of Stonecroft.” Come join us to connect with friends, make new acquaintances and hear this month’s inspiring and interesting speakers! There will be freshly, home baked party cupcakes, festive table decorations, joyful music and colorful door prizes!
The Special Feature Speakers for the month of October are Rita Pettit from Topeka, Kansas and Joyce Leach from Chapman, KS. Rita Pettit, is the Stonecroft Regional Administrator of Kansas & chair of one of the Stonecroft Topeka Women`s Connection Luncheon`s. Stonecroft is a non-denominational, non-profit Christian organization that provides leadership for women’s ministry throughout the United States and throughout the world in 65 foreign countries. The name “Stonecroft” comes from the land that was purchased in Kansas City in 1952 for the headquarters of this group. Rita will be sharing the exciting history of Stonecroft origins which dates back to 1938 and the growth of this group. Her talk is entitled “The Story Goes On.” Joyce Leach will share the fascinating local story of the beginnings of Christian Women’s Groups in Abilene and their continuous development since 1974. Three of the many women who helped in the founding of the first meetings in Abilene are pictured here. Edna Dyck is celebrating her 98th birthday in September and still attends the monthly coffees. Nadene Lauer is the organist at Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Eileen Garten now lives at Countryside. All of these women served faithfully on the planning team for many years.
Rita Pettit is also the Speaker for the Coffee in October. She will present her inspirational personal story of “Thriving—Not Just Surviving.” She is a former teacher and mother of 3. She enjoys traveling and loves to be involved in Stonecroft.
The Gathering Music will be played by pianist, Angie Hoerner of Abilene. The Special Music will be presented by Clark Williamson who is also from, Abilene, KS.
