Poet, Pastor, and Philosopher
March is Women’s History Month, and so several local thinkers will focus on the topic of gender for the next Poet, Pastor, and Philosopher forum on March 7th. The panel has been tweaked for the new topic to accommodate the following speakers…
- Phyllis Stutzman is Pastor of Emporia Presbyterian Church, and a board member of The Young Clergy Women Project — an international, ecumenical network of the youngest ordained clergy women.
- Kevin Rabas is an award-winning poet who serves as Professor and Chair of the Department of English, Modern Languages, and Journalism at Emporia State University.
- Ed Emmer is Associate Professor of Philosophy and the faculty advisor to the Philosophy Club at Emporia State University.
- Ellen Hansen is Professor of Geography and Chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Emporia State. Her research interests include gender as it relates to international development.
Andrew McHenry, the Pastor of First Congregational Church of Emporia, will serve as the moderator of the panel.
The forum will begin at 7:00 PM in the Blue Key Room (#215) of the Memorial Union at Emporia State University. Free parking for the public is available on Highland Street, or after 5:00 p.m. on the west side of the William Allen White Library, near the corner of 12th and Merchant.
This event is being jointly sponsored by Emporia State University, Emporia Presbyterian Church, and First Congregational Church of Emporia. The public is invited and there is no charge to attend.
